so it is Tax Time. and i am uploading and downloading photos. not surprising that i have the extension application on my desk. and this weekend Mark Nichols, my 1991 roomate and Red Farm Films friend , was in town. we hooked up and went to celebrate Jon Brickman's 40th at Lucky Strike downtown and then went and had late night Italian food in Little Italy. today i went to see his showcase of Joe Bean
( http://www.myspace.com/joebeanthemusical)
which was totally excellent.
this is a picture of us at Jon's celebration.

leaving The CCB's dreadful apartment

Well, once again i had to pack up and move on.

here are a couple of photos of the bedroom in the Domincan Republic of New York as i was in stage one: Priming the Walls in January 08.
Sadly, i do not have a photo of the finished product because i left in such a sad and pathetic flurry!
All i can say is I gave notice in January to get the F out by Feb 1 and happily i moved out of there. i am now in a fabulous and hopefully fairly permanent place in NoLita. it is rockin'.

Ode to The Potato

ode to the potato in the pan, in the bowl, in the mouth, in the belly.

ah, potato!
yum to you!
you sit for weeks in my windowsill
waiting
waiting
waiting
wondering when your life's work will commence.
i have longed for you
but known not how to prepare.
i have since discovered your simplicity.
you, potato! ah, you!
yum to you!
all it takes, all it took, all you are
is a life giving moment or two or twenty, depending.

thin sliced
slid in
to boiling water
with your brothers still intact
and all of you
each of you
bubbling and tossing about
with a thin layer of fresh green atop the water
neither yelling nor screaming
simply being patient
knowing
knowing
discovering your
Self
in my boil
in my toil
in my simple soil

out of the pot and into the colander
you, potato, yes
yum to you

out of the strain and into the olive oil
and browning
and crisping
and knowing
knowing
knowing
your
Self

Yum to the Potato
in my bowl
with a little salt and a little extra oil just for a toss

Yum to the Potato

who so patiently
waited
and
waited
to be my lunch.
